The stone industry went all in this past November, raising $40,000 during the inaugural “All In for Natural Stone” virtual poker tournament, a fundraising event benefiting the Natural Stone Foundation and the Gary Sinise Foundation.
Held on November 15, the Texas Hold’em-style tournament drew nearly 100 participants from across the industry and beyond. Organized by a dedicated steering committee, the event aimed to unite fabricators, distributors, contractors, and supporters in a night of friendly competition and charitable giving.
Seventy-five percent of the funds raised were directed to the Natural Stone Foundation, the philanthropic arm of the Natural Stone Institute. The foundation supports education, sustainability, and technical resources within the industry. The remaining 25% of proceeds benefited the Gary Sinise Foundation, which serves veterans, first responders, and their families.
Hosted on the Poker for Life platform, the tournament was open to players around the world. Entry cost $150, though many seats were filled via corporate sponsorships, allowing businesses to invite employees, clients, or partners to join. Rebuys were available during the first hour of play, helping boost contributions while keeping the action lively.
“We wanted it to be easy to access, fun, and most importantly, meaningful,” said co-organizer Jonathan Zanger. “It’s amazing to see how the industry came together to support a cause while also having a great time.”
Top sponsors included Marvel Unlimited, Triton Stone, Gentile, Tarmac, Daltile, and Stone World Magazine. Malisani, Inc. sponsored the grand prize: a $2,500 gift card. In total, over $11,000 in prizes were awarded to the top ten finishers.
Notably, six of the ten winners were from the stone industry.
Beyond the competition, the event fostered networking and camaraderie. Zoom lobbies allowed participants to connect in real time, and many companies hosted their teams in-office to join the fun together.
Organizers are already planning for the 2025 edition, scheduled for November 9. With more time to prepare and expanded outreach, Zanger and the committee aim to surpass this year’s success. Plans include early registration, increased sponsorship tiers, and wider participation across the stone and construction trades.
Companies or individuals interested in joining or sponsoring the next tournament can contact Jonathan Zanger at jonathanazanger@gmail.com or reach out to Nick Dorsey of the Natural Stone Foundation at nick@nsi.com. Additional details will be made available at allinforstone.com as the event approaches.
“It’s a win-win,” Zanger added. “You support a great cause, connect with your peers, and maybe even walk away with a prize. We’re just getting started.”
