New Mexico First Stop of Stone Industry Education Series

ALBUQUERQUE, NM – The 2026 Stone Industry Education (SIE) series will kick off next week at Arizona Tile’s facility in Albuquerque, NM. Scheduled for Thursday, February 12th, the all-day workshop will unite fabricators to discuss pertinent issues they are facing today, as well as to learn technical information that will assist in top-quality stone production. The SIE series is organized by Stone World in partnership with the Natural Stone Institute (NSI).
The session will be led by industry veteran Tony Malisani of Malisani Inc. in Great Falls, MT.
Malisani is owner of a fourth-generation stone shop and has been working in stone industry for more than two decades. His business specializes in high-end custom work from fountains, monuments, custom furniture to countertops. Malisani has extensive knowledge about business management in the stone industry with the understanding of the growing opportunities for a mall business. His firm is one of the first companies in the nation to receive the "Natural Stone Accredited Fabricator" credential. In 2010, Tony was elected to serve a five-year term on the Marble Institute of America (MIA) Board of Directors.
Malisani will lead a discussion to explore the geology of natural stone, the science behind abrasives and adhesives and teach participants how to apply these principles through real-world case studies. By the end of the session, you will gain a solid understanding of fabrication fundamentals and actionable strategies to enhance your everyday work.
Learning objectives include:
- Understand how stone geology influences the use of abrasives and adhesives.
- See how abrasive and adhesive theories apply to real-world fabrication challenges.
- Participate in hands-on demonstrations showcasing proper application techniques.
- Develop a plan to integrate these theories into your daily work practices.
“I’m interested in helping people and seeing the industry grow,” said Malisani. “I also want to push out the mantra that there is a right way and wrong way to do things. I think education is paramount to learning how to do things and where to find resources.”
