Tennessee Marble Company Under New Ownership

FRIENDSVILLE, TN -- Tennessee Marble Company’s (TMC) operational assets have been acquired by Raider Quarries LLC. Raider Quarries is an affiliate of Silvara Stone, in Crossville, TN.
“I am very happy to announce the new ownership of Jon Kraus and his partner Jason Hamill,” said Monica J. Gawet, president. “Jon has been an operator of Silvara Stone, with Crab Orchard quarries for over 20 years. He is experienced in the quarrying and custom fabrication of natural stone. I am so grateful to have his leadership in carrying on the historic legacy of Tennessee Pink marble. The time had come for the succession of a new owner and leader after 32 years.”
“We are thrilled to carry the baton Monica has passed on to us and to build upon the incredible legacy she and her team have built over the past three decades,” said Managing Partner Jon Kraus. “Exciting times are ahead for Tennessee Marble!”
TMC will continue its primary business of supplying all the Tennessee marble varieties, as well as fabrication of commercial cut-to-size projects, in marble and limestone. Kraus will expand the supply of Tennessee in the building stone segment by offering full-bed, thin veneer and various other hardscape products.
Tennessee Pink marble is in some of the most iconic buildings in the country, such as the National Gallery of Art, East Wing of the National Gallery and thousands of buildings across the country. Quarrying from the deposits in East Tennessee began around 1890. Gawet consolidated several viable quarries into TMC over her 30-plus year tenure. She will remain an active consultant to the company in the next coming months.
