From its prime location on Melrose Avenue to its eclectic menu and chic decor, Sur Restaurant in West Hollywood, CA, offers patrons a unique dining experience — making it a popular hot spot among celebrities and even the Real Housewives of Beverly Hills. A recent remodel, including a new bar top fabricated from Caesarstone quartz surfacing, further enhanced its atmosphere and heightened the restaurant’s status among diners.

Sur is owned by two couples, including Lisa Vanderpump, a Real Housewife of Beverly Hills, and her husband, Ken Todd. The couple comes from England and owns 10 restaurants and bars in London, which Vanderpump designed. Using her experience in the restaurant industry and eye for detail, Vanderpump also designed Sur.

According to Sagi Cohen, CEO of Caesarstone USA, Vanderpump chose Caesarstone’s Belgian Moon for the restaurant’s bar. “It was a new color Caesarstone introduced at the time,” he said. “The color was a great match to the overall design, and it is a durable surface, which requires very simple maintenance and lasts for many years.”

The new bar top required three slabs of Belgian Moon. In addition to being a practical choice in terms of maintenance, the rich look of the quartz also contributed to the overall elegance of the dining space.

“The dramatic color and texture of the surface was a great fit to the overall look and feel of the design,” said Cohen. “[Also], because it was being used for a bar, they had to select a durable surface with resistance to stains.”

The Belgian Moon quartz was paired with glass mosaics in a brick format. The mosaics clad the face of the bar as well as the wall behind it. The sheen of the clear glass further adds to the glam look of Sur — fitting right in with the West Hollywood scene.
