The Master 3500 portable electric contouring machine fromMarmoelettromeccanica, available in the U.S. fromRegent Stone Products, is equipped with a “Water System” gliding plate. This is the newest and most up-to-date machine in the Master series from Marmoelettromeccanica, the company reports. The Water System allows the machine to glide on a film of water that flows between the slab and the machine, replacing the traditional wheel system and assuring that the material will not be scratched. In addition, the Master 3500 allows the operator to vary the spindle RPM, thus allowing the unit to be adapted to different conditions.

The Master 3500 is available with a set of wheels developed by Marmoelettromeccanica for optimum efficiency:

Zenith:These sintered diamond wheels (Position 1 and 2) are engineered to never lose their shape. They have an exceptional long lifespan and grinding power, Marmoelettromeccanica reports.

Bi-Power:This rectification diamond wheel (Position 3) has multiple benefits, according to the company: it never loses its shape; it is long lasting and it offers an advantage for the polishing positions to follow.

Longlife:These are the polishing wheels (Positions 4 through 6) with high-quality diamonds and a rubber core. According to Marmoelettromeccanica, they have a very long lifespan (about four times longer than the previous technology, based on using a diamond cloth glued on a rubber core). More importantly, they have been engineered not to leave any scratches whatsoever, even on straight edges, with lower production times and costs.

Frangistone:The unique Frangistone wheel from Marmoelettromeccanica uses a series of discs, placed horizontally, which creates a “stone hammer” effect that crushes the stone. This makes the 0 Position and bevel wheels obsolete, the company reports. Also, since the discs are independent of each other, users only replace the worn discs, not the entire bit.
