This year, Stone World celebrates its 35th anniversary. And while the magazine itself has evolved through the decades, the stone industry at large has also experienced change and growth, as well as some hardships over time.

A 1964 historic building in South Florida that currently houses a condominium complex was designed by Edward Durell Stone and restored by his son, Hicks Stone Son, in the late 1990s. With nearly a million square feet of enclosed retail space, The Shops at South Town in Sandy, UT, is one of the state’s largest malls. Ownership at the shopping center has made a significant investment to renovate the property, including over 100,000 square feet of striking, large-format porcelain tile in the main concourses on both levels.

We at Contemporary Stone & Tile Design are excited for the New Year once again. Not only does it give the magazine an opportunity to plan out what it will be like for the next 12 months, but also reflect on the previous year.
