Quarry leaders came together to strengthen collaboration across the quarrying sector.

The Latin American Fabricators Network made its first appearance at Coverings 2026, using the show's Fabricator Stage to introduce a grassroots organization aimed at giving Latino stone fabricators a seat at the industry table.

America is experiencing a housing affordability crisis. For millions of families, the dream of homeownership is drifting further out of reach. Politicians across the spectrum say they want to fix this problem. One trade case under consideration by the government could drive home costs even higher.

The first official participation of the sector in the commemorative week held in New York further contributed to bringing the Brazilian stone industry closer to discussions on investments, critical and strategic minerals, infrastructure, and economic relations.

The event featured leading exhibitors from Canada, the U.S., Portugal, China and Italy, showcasing the latest in natural stone, engineered surfaces, machinery, tooling and fabrication technology. 

The awards program celebrates excellence in residential and commercial hardscape applications, including natural stone. 

California's Occupational Safety and Health Standards Board is scheduled to vote May 21 on a petition that would ban the fabrication and installation of engineered stone slabs containing more than 1 percent crystalline silica, a decision that would mark the first such prohibition in the United States.

The next SFA Workshop will bring fabricators together on June 4 and 5, 2026, for two days of learning, networking and viewing American Floor Coverings' state-of-the-art facility.

Caesarstone Ltd. reported first quarter 2026 revenue of $88.7 million, down approximately 15% year-over-year on a constant currency basis, as the engineered stone manufacturer continued to navigate softer demand, competitive pressures and a sweeping operational restructuring.

The full-day fabricator event, hosted by MSI, will include three panel discussions focusing on material trends, shop safety and technical issues.
