SAN DIEGO, CA – MSI will host the next Stone Industry Education (SIE) event, scheduled for Thursday, October 9, 2025, at its showroom and slab facility in San Diego, CA. The all-day fabricator event, one of nine organized by Stone World and the Natural Stone Institute (NSI), will focus on enhancing workplace safety standards.
The discussion will be led by Mark Meriaux, NSI accreditation and technical manager, and Jeff “Corky” Courtright, safety coordinator at Planet Granite in Colorado Springs, CO. Learning objectives include:
- Discuss recent changes in safety regulations affecting the stone industry and how to ensure compliance.
- Share insights about proper equipment handling, maintenance and safety protocols to minimize accidents.
- Engage in identifying common hazards in stone fabrication and strategies for effective risk management.
- Explore the importance of ongoing safety training and how to implement effective training sessions for staff.
- Discuss strategies for fostering a workplace culture that prioritizes safety and encourages open communication about concerns.
