For this issue of Contemporary Stone & Tile Design, we focus on “Kitchen & Bath Design.” We chose projects that use stone and tile and another that uses mosaic tile. We also discussed tile trends for kitchen and bath products with interior designer Rainey Richardson, that interview is on page 24 of this issue.

On page 16 of this issue we feature a Boston hotel that uses mosaic tiles in the bathroom as an unexpected art piece. The project features custom glass mosaic tiles created by Artaic.

We also feature a townhouse remodeled in New York City that’s central point of the interior design is the spacious kitchen, with glass doors allowing the room to extend out to the outdoor patio. According to the architect Charles Rabinovich, “The kitchen was intended to be clean and traditional, but light,” he said. “We were looking for a strong contrast to the White Calacatta Gold marble countertops and came across this material from Stone Source.” Read more about the story on page 20.

Penn State University’s Brandywine campus recently went through a transformation with their landscape architecture, with the goal of creating a more attractive, functional and engaging landscape for students, staff and faculty. The story starts on page 30.

Finally on page 36 we cover the installation of large-format tile and stone at an art deco casino. The project goes through the preparation work required to be able to lay the large and heavy tile and stone.
