Fall trends in stone and tile

September 1, 2011
Stone and tile manufacturers continue to impress with sophisticated products that meet the primary design requirements of aesthetics, function and sustainability. Below is just a sample of the latest introductions.

A. Among ABC Stone’s global collection of natural stone is Onice Veluto. Additionally, the company offers a wide selection of the finest granite, marble, travertine, onyx, slate and quartzite, which are available in slabs, tiles, cut-to-size and special projects.

B. Inspired by timeless elegance and beauty, Ambition by Italian tile manufacturer Atlas Concorde is a ceramic surface for interiors with a refined personality. The glossy surface and the elegant colors diffuse a soft radiance, enhanced by the effects of the delicate decors revealing a cutting-edge, contemporary trend. Available in 12- x 36-inch format and a shiny surface finish, the white-bodied wall tile is available in seven cool colors, including: White, Rose, Crème, Ecru, Opal, Gray and Moka.

Inspired by the most well-known natural stone varieties, the new product range is manufactured using BIO resins from renewable vegetable sources, which represents a revolutionary commitment to sustainability and the environment, reports the manufacturer.

D. Manufactured from 100% recycled glass, mosaic tiles in the “Iris” and “Metal” collections from Tile of Spain-branded manufacturer Ezarri, have no absorption to water, are resistant to chemical cleaning products, are frost resistant and easy to clean, reports the manufacturer.

E. Brillante is the new collection of ultrathin, ultra-polish white-body tiles — with coordinated porcelain stoneware floor tiles — from Fap Ceramiche. The design skill of Fap Ceramiche is demonstrated in original trim pieces, which are all finished with a range of coordinated TonoSuTono grouts. This particular element is used to create perfect bathrooms, with attention right down to the last detail, explains the Italian manufacturer. Tile in the Brillante Collection is available in five exclusive colors, including: Brown, Champagne, Fumè, Lemon and Quartz. Additionally, its slim thickness allows Brillante to be laid on existing tiles. In addition to tile format and trim pieces, Brillante is also offered in mosaics (shown).

F. The Earth & Art series by Hirsch Glass Corp. is an inspiring and innovative synthesis of art glass and stone, according to the manufacturer. The 1- x 1-inch mosaics are carefully blended to harmonize the natural veins of prestigious stone with the swirls of stained glass. Recently, the company provided the Earth & Art series for a number of shower wall applications in the baths of guest rooms at the Andaz Hotel in San Diego, CA, designed by Powerstrip Studio.

G. The new Audrey collection by Italian tile manufacturer Lea Ceramiche blends neutral and pastel shades into a contemporary style using a pixel effect. Resembling wallpaper, the decors to choose from (Blossom, Dots, Stripes, Galles, Mentine) are available in seven colors and ideal for wall coverings in bathroom, kitchen, living spaces or hallway applications, according to the manufacturer.

H. American Marazzi Tile, Inc., the U.S. subsidiary of Marazzi Group, brings “Treverk” to the market. Due to the company’s state-of-the-art digital print technology, the look of natural wood has been achieved in a tile material offering all the benefits of porcelain stoneware: incredible durability, ease of maintenance and an appearance with which only an occasional wet-mopping will look as it did the day it was installed. Slip-resistant, rectified and highly attractive, unlike wood it requires no waxing or stripping. Treverk is offered in three plank formats: 6 x 48, 8 x 48 and 12 x 48 inches, as well as six authentic wood tones: White, Beige, Cappuccino, Teak, Wenge and Black. Additionally, Treverk is an eco-friendly tile material that is composed of 40% minimum pre-consumer recycled content and contributes to a project’s LEED scorecard, reports Marazzi.

I. Green City is the latest series in the Top Green Collection by Roca Cerámicas, a Tile of Spain-branded manufacturer. Top Green is made from 80% recycled pre-consumption material certified by Bureau Veritas, and it is a completely ecological ceramic that takes sustainability into account throughout the entire production process. Top Green contributes to the sustainability of buildings according to the LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) system, reports Roca Cerámicas.

Green City is a smooth and elegant ecological stone-look tile. This series — with its complete range of formats, finishes, colors and decorative pieces — is perfect for use in any space as flooring or as wall tile in both interior and exterior applications. The tile is available in an impressive 20- x 40-inch format as well as a selection of colors and finishes.
