COSENTINO NORTH AMERICA HOSTS MEDIA AND INDUSTRY EVENTS TO LAUNCH NEW SUSTAINABLE PRODUCT

August 1, 2009
Don Sciolaro, CEO of National Kitchen and Bath Association, Sara Ann Busby, Former President of the National Kitchen and Bath Association and Lorenzo Marquez, VP of Marketing for Cosentino North America

NEW YORK, NY - Cosentino, a world leader in quartz surfacing, and one of the nation’s largest natural stone importers, recently hosted a successful editor’s launch and evening cocktail reception in New York City to launch ECO by Cosentino, a revolutionary new line of countertop and surfacing material composed of 75% recycled material. The launch was held in the stylish glass penthouse of the Chelsea Arts Tower, in the heart of Manhattan’s contemporary art district. Renowned designer David Stark curated an artful exhibition of intriguing sculptures showcasing ECO’s raw materials. An 11-foot-high “75%” sculpture filled with shards of porcelain, glass and mirrors made an impressive impact immediately as guests entered the room, representing ECO’s high content of recycled materials. In addition, a colossal tower of porcelain sinks and ceramics, a giant glass bottle made of over 500 individual glass bottles and a rain cloud of reflecting mirrors made a provocative statement and highlighted the huge quantity of recycled materials Cosentino utilizes each year in the manufacturing of ECO.

Roberto Contreras Jr., President and CEO of Cosentino North America and Claudia Contreras

The all-day launch event kicked off with an informative introduction of ECO by Cosentino with Lorenzo Marquez, Vice President of Marketing, followed by a panel discussion with top industry leaders, including Roberto Contreras, Jr., President and CEO, Cosentino North America; Luis de Garrido, Ph.D., President, The National Association for Housing of the Future, Spain Designer and Architect of “GREEN BOX;” and Sara Ann Busby, CKD Former President, National Kitchen and Bath Association.

The program continued into the evening with cocktails and hors d’oeuvres for more than 250 leading industry professionals and New York members of AIA (American Institute of Architects) and ASID (American Society of Interior Designers). The event was successful in introducing a highly qualified crowd of environmentally conscious architects and designers to the new product.

A giant glass bottle made of over 500 individual bottles highlighted the huge quantity of recycled materials Consentino utilizes each year in the manufacturing of ECO.

The result of a $6 million dollar research and development investment, this innovative new product caters to the environmentally conscious and design-oriented architect, designer and consumer by providing high-performance, design and sustainability, reports the manufacturer. ECO by Cosentino is available at all Lowe’s stores nationwide as well as specialty kitchen and bath distributors and showrooms across the country. ECO by Cosentino offers a hard durable surface that has high stain, scratch and scorch performance. It is non-porous and does not require sealers, according to Cosentino North America. Available in two sophisticated color palettes - the Revive collection and the Green collection - totaling 10 individual designer colors, ECO by Cosentino is suitable for both commercial and residential projects.
