Women of the stone and tile industry united during Coverings 2025 for a two-hour luncheon and networking session in the Galvanize Lounge at the Orange County Convention Center in Orlando, FL. The well-attended event, which was held on Wednesday, April 30th, was organized by Women In Stone (WIS) and Women In Tile. Leaders of both associations were thrilled with the turnout and participation from the ladies.
“I came up with the idea to have a joint roundtable with WIS after Coverings 2024,” said Elizabeth Lambert, Women In Tile chairperson. “WIS held a roundtable in Atlanta and we have collaborated on events in the past. It was so much fun for some of our Women In Tile members to work with the WIS steering committee to come up with the questions for the roundtable. When we proposed the idea to Coverings they said they would be happy to sponsor the lunch.”
Lambert shared both teams were excited to see more than 80 attendees come out to support the event. “We had women from all aspects of the tile and stone industry -- from women tile installers and tile distributors to tile artisans, women owners of tile and slab businesses and those who worked in retail sales,” she said. “With such a diverse group, we had many great discussions. It was great to see how much our initiatives have grown in the past few years, and we appreciate the support of all our sponsors.”
Judging by the buzz in the room, it was apparent participants were energized. “The Galvanize Lounge at Coverings was the most happening place at the show! Throughout the week, and especially during coordinated events such as the Women in Tile & Stone Roundtable, I witnessed women supporting women in a truly impactful way,” said Sarah Gregg, Natural Stone Institute (NSI) marketing director and administrator of the WIS steering committee. “My favorite moment from the Elevate & Empower Roundtable event was when a young lady in my group shared how she had originally struggled to overcome the gender barriers that are common to so many women in our industry. It can be hard to be recognized and respected for your expertise and creativity when so many people default to turning to the man in the conversation. Since becoming involved with WIS, she no longer sees her gender as a barrier, but an opportunity to be a part of this supportive community.”
Both WIS and Women In Tile are active throughout the year, holding both in-person and online meetings and events. To learn more about each group, visit:
