Schluter Systems Hits Major Sustainability Milestone

Schluter-Systems announced a major sustainability milestone: the release of the first product-specific Environmental Product Declaration (EPD) for an uncoupling membrane in North America. This industry-first EPD, developed for Schluter’s DITRA membrane, sets a new standard for transparency in the tile installation sector and highlights the company’s leadership in sustainable innovation.
“These product-specific EPDs are the result of extensive collaboration across our organization and supply chain,” said Kali Pharand, sustainability and standards manager at Schluter. “We’re proud to lead the way with the first uncoupling membrane EPD in North America and look forward to expanding our library of verified product data.”
This release is part of a broader initiative by Schluter to support environmentally responsible building practices. The company has published an expanded suite of sustainability documentation across its product lines, including Health Product Declarations (HPDs), Red List Free certifications for select setting materials and membranes, and Volatile Organic Compound (VOC) testing reports.
These documents provide architects, designers, specifiers, contractors and project managers with verified, standardized data to help meet green building standards such as LEED and WELL.
To improve access to these resources, Schluter has partnered with Ecomedes, a leading platform for sustainability documentation. This collaboration ensures that product information is readily available to support responsible design and construction decisions.
