While Miranda Falloon only recently turned 100% of her attention to Stellar Stone Works, the stone fabrication business she owns with her husband, Adam, she dove right in and is a very active member of the industry. Falloon has applied her skills from the corporate world to helping the Bourbon, MO-based company grow. The mom of two shared with Stone World a little about her background, experiences and personal life in the following interview.
SW: Tell us a little about yourself and how you first got into the stone fabrication business?
MF: My name is Miranda Falloon. My husband, Adam, and I own Stellar Stone Works. We have two kids, Caitlin and Chase. They both work for the family business. I started my career in aerospace and spent most of my career in sales, supply chain and project management. Adam and I have always been partners, but he ran the business, and I worked from the sidelines while maintaining my career. In 2022, I left my career to help grow Stellar Stone Works, which was one of the best decisions I have ever made! I typically handle the sales and general management aspects of the business.
SW: When did you open Stellar Stone Works, and how did this come about?
MF: My husband Adam had a custom cabinet and laminate countertop business, occasionally installing stone. We sold our first stone job in 2015 and manually fabricated. Every stone job we won, we used the funds to buy more stone fabrication equipment. In 2017, we officially launched Stellar Stone Works. The past eight years have been a whirlwind of continued growth, and we are excited to open our new showroom at the Lake of the Ozarks in a few short weeks!
SW: What do you like most about your job?
MF: As an owner, I have a passion for the entire business. I love working with our team to find solutions and opportunities for improvement and growth. I also love the design aspect and working with customers to bring their vision to reality.
SW: You are very active in the Stone Fabricator’s Alliance (SFA). What benefits to you get out of being in a group such as this?
MF: Being in the SFA has been very beneficial to us. We have a whole network of fabricators and suppliers to reach out to with questions or assistance. We have utilized this network a lot over the years and try to assist others wherever we can. We have also made lifelong friendships with others that love the industry as much as we do!
SW: What would you say is one of your most memorable experiences of working in the stone industry?
MF: I had the honor of being invited to the SFA Italy tour last year. Past participants had told me this would be a trip of a lifetime for my business and career. After experiencing this tour, I wholeheartedly agree. Words cannot express the knowledge and experiences gained during this trip. I highly recommend this to anyone wanting to grow their business or career in the stone industry.
SW: What’s something that many people might not know about you?
MF: Adam and I are pyrotechnics and own a retail fireworks business, Galactic Fireworks.
SW: When you aren’t working, how do you like to spend your free time?
MF: When we are not working on the stone business or the fireworks business, we are spending time with friends and family. We love to travel and find new adventures!
SW: Is there anything else you would like to share?
MF: The stone industry is different than any other industry I have been a part of. It is refreshing that even though some of us could be considered competitors, no one really views it that way. We all work together and help each other to make the industry better.
