Michael Berman and Walker Zanger Debut Additions to Studio Moderne Stone Collection

Walker Zanger Studio Moderne
November 29, 2018

LOS ANGELES – Walker Zanger is pleased to announce the expansion of one of its most successful and timeless collections, Studio Moderne Stone. Created by noted interior designer Michael Berman, the Studio Moderne Stone extension features four new profiles in 10 trendsetting variations. The new designs further develop the collection’s homage to the spirit of American modernism, reflecting the Art Deco and Hollywood Regency movements while imparting a softer color palette that’s at home in today’s interiors.

“It’s the dialogue between past and present that inspires my new designs for Walker Zanger. I love the versatility the new collection offers designers, from feature walls to kitchens and baths to bar fronts and beyond,” said Berman. “This fresh take on dimensional marble tiles and mid-scale mosaics complement the graphic silhouettes in the original Studio Moderne Stone collection.”

“Walker Zanger is proud to be working with Michael Berman once again to collaborate on a new iteration of our popular Studio Moderne Stone collection, developing beautiful natural stone mosaics in tactile designs,” said Erika Egede-Nissen, director of marketing.

Named after the California college town noted for its bungalow architecture, “Claremont” is an updated hexagonal bungalow tile with stylish form and timeless function. With the “Monarch” design, Berman utilized an interlocking octagon-and-square design reminiscent of the regal looks of European chateaux, hence its royal name. The profile “Parliament” is named after the houses of parliament in Europe and features an elongated linear rhomboid.

"Incorporating crisp Calacata white marble, serene steel gray limestone and a gorgeous new Celeste blue marble, my new designs recall the elegance and simplicity that are synonymous with Art Deco and Modernist forms,” said Berman.

The tile patterns are fabricated into geometric shapes by water-jet, cut from selected slabs of fine marbles sourced in Europe, carved from solid blocks then meticulously hand-finished.

The Studio Moderne Stone extension is a part of the new Curated Elegance collection by Walker Zanger, which includes three separate tile collections that take natural stone to a new level of grandeur. The collections’ colors work in harmony to deliver a sophisticated design experience. Visit walkerzanger.com/curatedelegance to learn more.
