Marmomacc Stone Academy for architects takes place in conjunction with Verona Fair

As part of the 15th edition of the Marmomacc Stone Academy, a continuing education program on stone design for architects, education took place in a Breccia quarry outside of Verona.

The architects also got a first-hand look at the latest stoneworking technology being used by Italian processors.

Classroom sessions took place at the Marmomacc exhibition hall. Among them, Bob Campo of Rock of Ages spoke about the use of American granite for large-scale architectural projects around the world. He also addressed the availability of LEED credits for the use of domestic granite for projects completed in the U.S.
The 15th edition of the Marmomacc Stone Academy’s continuing education program on stone design for architects was another example of the show’s international dimension. A total of 29 architects from the U.S., Canada, the U.K., India, South Africa and Malaysia received scholarships for this year’s program. The architects spent five intensive days learning about design with natural stone, earning more than 20 AIA credits. In addition to classroom lectures and discussions, participants visited a nearby quarry and various processing facilities and spent almost an entire day touring Marmomacc. The program ended with a day in Padova, hosted by Fila Industria Chimica, which included factory and R&D laboratory visits, as well as a guided tour of the town of Bassano del Grappa.
