2013 Sink Roundup

More stone fabricators are stocking sinks than ever before, and sink manufacturers are continually developing new products to accommodate the changing needs of the marketplace

By Sara Garafalo
November 1, 2013

Over the past decade or so, the stone fabrication industry has clearly moved towards the kitchen countertop sector. And with this in mind, many stone fabricators are regularly offering sinks to their customers. Not only a service to the homeowners, this has allowed stone fabricators to become more familiar with certain sink shapes and styles. But, like all products, the choices for sinks are growing on a daily basis and manufacturers are looking to increase practicality, durability and aesthetics.

The following is a look at some of the latest sink offerings on the market today:

AmeriSink has introduced several handmade stainless steel sinks with new technology and design. They come in a full series of single, double, bar sink, 18G & 16G and ADA compliant sink, etc. Additionally, they are installer friendly, with R19 radius, plus one template for both single and double sinks.

Blanco has introduced the architectural Modex kitchen sink workstation, with an award-winning raised profile and modern cubic design. Modex features a unique 3-inch profile that sits above the counter and offers a generous amount of task space thanks to the dual draining design and a large integrated cutting board. Modex is a 2012 Red Dot International Design Award winner for its distinct raised profile, cubic style and innovative dual draining system. Part of the Blanco Silgranit II collection, this modern sink embodies a high design standard with its form and generous flowing surfaces.

Blanco, has also introduced the new Stellar stainless-steel undermount Laundry sink. Durable and transitional, the versatile single-bowl sink effortlessly transforms the laundry room into a sophisticated and contemporary space. Stellar’s sleek undermount style is also appropriate for a kitchen, while the surgical-grade stainless and spacious bowl depth provide even greater cleaning capability. The accessible price is perfect for utility areas without sacrificing the overall look, style, quality or performance.

Chemcore has recently added a new, European-made ultra-premium line of stainless steel sinks called the Waterloo Eurotec line. Most models are 16 gauge and 10 inches deep, and are made with the highest quality 304 stainless with 18/10 chrome/nickel content. Waterloo Eurotec sinks are packaged as a complete sink kit and include not only the sink, but also a fitted cutting board, unique strainer/drain, soap dispenser and stainless grids. There are several unique models in this line, including (as pictured) the low center divide 60/40 model. Waterloo sinks are priced to allow great wholesale profit potential and real value to your customers.

Chemcore's Patriot Sink line, which is made in the U.S., is also a new addition to its extensive stainless steel sink selection. The line has 17 models of both undermount and drop-in/top-mount sinks. Chemcore reports that it is becoming increasingly conscious of buying U.S.-made products with U.S. quality, and it now as an affordable choice to offer. Shown is the Floridian model.

Handmade Farmhouse style sinks have gained more popularity each year and Chemcore offers over 28 models in 18- and 15-gauge stainless steel. Most stainless models are available with the original tight 90-degree corners or the now-popular 20-degree rounded radial corners. They are available in three styles: apron, undermount and drop-in/top mount. Chemcore’s newest style is designed to fill a hard-to-find segment of this business — the laundry room sink. The recently introduced “Milam” model is 23 ½ x 18 ½ inches and is 12 inches deep. It can be both undermounted or top mounted, and is made of extra heavy 15-gauge stainless steel. Another recently added design to the Homeplace brand is the Henderson. This model is a 15-gauge handmade farmhouse 50/50 equal bowl that simply drops in and replaces the standard old 33- x 22- inch kitchen sink. This provides a very low cost alternative to updating a kitchen with a new look.

Nantucket Sink’s vitreous china UM-13x10 (nicknamed the problem solver) solved many a problem, but why should there be only one solution? They have introduced the UM-16x11 mini rectangle vitreous china sink. This model is a good choice for the customer who has grown tired of the oval shape. Available in white and bisque.

Featuring graceful lines and a polished satin finish, Revere undermount sinks are made from thick 18-gauge stainless steel to ensure superior durability. Perfect for remodeling projects, it has a shortened apron that allows for installation on most new or existing 36-inch standard cabinetry. The Self-Trimming design requires only a simple rough cut, overlapping the cabinet face for beautiful results and easy installation. A roomy single basin accommodates large pots and pans, while the sloped bottom helps with draining and cleanup. Crafted from enameled cast iron, the sink resists scratching, burning and staining for years of reliable performance.
