On September 11, the world witnessed a horrible tragedy that none of us could have ever imagined. We at Stone World offer our sincerest condolences to anyone and everyone affected by this tragedy, and we applaud the incredible courage, resolve and hard work that now defines our firefighters, policemen and rescue workers.

Unfortunately, terrorism is now part of all of our lives, and the images of the bombings of the World Trade Center and the Pentagon will be etched in our memories forever. The sad truth about what must follow is also a horrible prospect. None of us knows how our lives will have been affected by the time this magazine reaches your hands. But one thing is undeniable: these horrific and unspeakable acts must galvanize everyone in the civilized world against the terrorists who not only carried out and planned these acts, but also against all who have supported and aided them. No single nation can win a war against global terrorism alone -- it needs to be a global effort, and it will be a long and difficult road ahead for everyone.

Our industry is an international one, as diverse and inclusive as they come, and we hope that everyone can work together towards somehow making this world a better and safer place for our future generations.
