Stone & Tile Products

Adhesives

April 9, 2002
Custom Building Products, manufacturer of tile and stone installation products, has announced a comprehensive new line of adhesives, TripleGripTM Premium Tile Adhesive and OmniGripTM Ultimate Tile Adhesive, for tile installation.

"Latex adhesives offer several advantages over the other setting options for specific installations," said Diane Wood, senior product manager at Custom Building Products. "Our new line offers the preferred working properties and performance characteristics that professionals look for to get the job done faster and better."

Custom¿s new adhesives are available in three separate grades. Each formulation is smooth and easy to trowel, allowing large areas to be covered with minimal effort and reduced fatigue, according to the company.

OmniGrip, the flagship product line, is formulated with a propriety blend of polymers and represents a significant advancement in adhesive technology. A higher level of solids and reduced water content result in up to 33% reduction in shrinkage, according to the company, and it weighs 25% less than other adhesives, making it easier to apply and transport. OmniGrip can be used to set large tiles up to 16 x 16 inches in size on floors, and it can be used in selected exterior tile applications.

TripleGrip is a new resin-modified SBR latex adhesive from Custom. According to the company, this adhesive is light tan in color, has a creamy consistency and offers maximum slip resistance and wet tack. It also offers optimum flexbility for use on a wide variety of approved substrates.

ReliaBond and ReliaBond ESTM adhesives can be used for wall, floor or countertop installations of ceramic or stone tile. Both formulations provide the same quality and performance, but ReliaBond ES offers extended open and adjustment times required in hot, dry climates and temperatures over 90 degrees Fahrenheit, according to Custom Building Products. Packaging for these two products has been updated as part of the company¿s newly expanded offering of adhesives.

To complete the adhesives line, Custom Building Products¿ commercial grade products include T1-60 Wall & Floor Tile Adhesive and Type II Wall Tile Adhesive. T1-60 features high tack, quick grab and easy cleanup, and can be used for floor, wall and countertop installations, according to the company. Type II Wall Tile Adhesive is also easy to spread and dries fast, and was formulated for high value in large commercial projects such as airports and hotels.
