What’s new in adhesives/chip & stain repair technology
With the objective of making stone installation and repair easier and more accurate, manufacturers continually work to develop new and improved products to meet the demand. The following is a sampling of the latest products for adhesion and chip/stain repair available on today’s market.
Stone Shield Vinyl Ester- Braxton-Bragg
The Stone Shield Vinyl Ester formula offers the absolute best color consistency from can to cure, making it perfect for color matching any stone or surface, whether a natural stone or quartz product. Due to the light- or white-colored stone trend in the industry, Stone Shield Vinyl Ester is being offered as the go-to product for these light-hued stones. Color matching is always more critical on lighter-colored surfaces. Our Stone Shield Vinyl Ester is translucent and tints well, providing excellent color-matching results on any stone or surface.
Chem-Set CCA802 “Low Bloom” CA Chip Repair Kit- Chemical Concepts
CCA802 Low Bloom CA Glue Chip Repair Kit with Stone Tac Accelerator is used for repairing fissures, scratches and chips in light-colored stones more likely to discolor.
The kit includes:
- 1 bottle of CA5 Thin Set: viscosity similar to water with little surface tension.
- 1 bottle of CA100 Medium Set: viscosity similar to motor oil and can be used in applications where CA5 is too runny and CA2400 is too thick.
- 1 bottle of CA2400 Thick Set: viscosity similar to honey used to fill larger gaps.
Stone Tac Low Bloom Accelerator designed to be used with light-colored stones which are more prone to discoloration when the standard Quick Tack II accelerator is used.
MegaLite® Ultimate Crack Prevention Large Format Tile Mortar- Custom Building Products

Nitro One Shot® Adhesives- GranQuartz
GranQuartz has announced its new line of adhesives with superior bond strength and excellent color matching for granite, quartz, porcelain and solid surfaces. Nitro One Shot is a semi-dripless gunnable adhesive of medium viscosity allowing for production of tighter more precise joints with less product waste. It is extremely UV stabile and has excellent bonding properties. It is GreenGuard Certified, qualifies for LEED projects and is currently undergoing approval for Dekton. The Nitro line has the ability to produce more color matches with fewer cartridges since the line is focused at the reasonable range of 200 colors. Other features include:

HMK Stone Care- HMK
HMK Stone Care has several easy-to-use products for removing stains from all natural and artificial stones. Two popular ones are HMK R154 Stripper/Stain remover which facilitates the removal of oil, wax, paint, sealers and more. For deeply embedded, difficult to remove oil or grease, HMK R152 is a ready-made poultice/paste which works to easily draw out stains in approximately 10 to 12 hours. Both suggest a neutralizing rinse with HMK R155 Intensive Cleaner, another excellent stain remover for various stains.
Akemi Hyper Clear Set- Innochem LLC
Akemi Hyper Clear Set Innochem features:

Surface Bonder Zero- Integra Adhesives
Earlier this year, Integra Adhesives launched Surface Bonder Zero — a Zero Sag adhesive that is available pre-colored, in 250ml cartridges. Surface Bonder Zero has excellent bonding properties on quartz and natural stone, as well as more difficult to bond products like compact sintered materials. Surface Bonder Zero is the newest addition to the Surface Bonder family, which includes Surface Bonder XI and Surface Bonder Ultra. These three adhesives give you the flexibility to seam nearly any surface in nearly any finish.
125 TRI MAX- Laticrete

Panther Pure- Stone Boss
Panther Pure is a super clear revolutionary new adhesive for natural stone, quartz surface and solid surface materials. Extremely fast cure time (“Tack Free” in less than 10 minutes at room temperature). Panther Pure exhibits excellent mechanical and chemical bonding and strong enough to withstand the added pressure of CNC or automatic edge machines.
Superior Gold- Superior Adhesives
Superior Gold is a revolutionary adhesive perfectly suited for use with granite, marble, sintered, porcelain, quartz, quartzite, solid surface, onyx and more. Superior Gold is pearlescent / translucent and is perfect for mitering, seaming, laminating and chip repair.
Superior Gold provides excellent mechanical and chemical bonding making it ideal for material being machined CNC) or a simple chip repair. The cured adhesive can be polished to match the surface of the material.

Tenax Bravo!- Tenax
Tenax Bravo! Quartz Stain Remover removes and cleans difficult stains from quartz. This is a ready-to-use product that is ideal for deep cleaning quartz agglomerates. As well as degreasing the surface, it will remove organic stains such as food stains, fruit stains, wine stains, coffee stains and blood. It will also remove cosmetic residue, lipstick, marker, shoe polish, soap, fingerprints, wax residues, signs of rubber and shoe marks. This product can be used indoors and outdoors.
