As we approach the beginning of a new year, and a new decade, we are encouraging all of our Rockhead members to take a close look into their business and identify key areas of focus that will allow them to plan and scale their business based on present or potential economic cycles.

This Stone of the Month, Champlain Black marble, is supplied by Tennessee Marble Company of Friendsville, TN.  Technical details provide a frame of reference only. Because stone is a product of nature, testing to determine specific physical qualities should be repeated for each project.

GK Naquin of Stone Interiors led an engaging morning presentation at the Tampa Stone Summit on October 10, 2019. The day-long event was one of 10 Stone Industry Education sessions organized by Stone World and the Natural Stone Institute across the U.S. This particular one was sponsored by MSI and drew 64 registered attendees.

Stone World’s “Industry Perspective” column has revolving articles by the Stone Fabricators Alliance (SFA), The Natural Stone Institute (NSI), and the Rockhead Group offering insight into the workings of each organization, and their place within the industry.

The 40 x 300 mm supports from Blick Industries have been upgraded to have suction cup tops with replaceable seals. Soft rubber seals, which are easily swapped out when damaged, have replaced the one-piece hard rubber pad from the previous versions. The new design provides a secure seal for vacuum holding when handling stone, glass and solid surfaces.
