Artistic Tile Offers Immersive Experience to Architects and Designers

SECAUCUS, NJ – A select group of leading designers and architects were invited by Artistic Tile to partake in a one-of-a-kind trip to Italy. The exclusive three-day experience was centered in Forte dei Marmi and was designed for participants to come away with a deeper understanding of the stone at the heart of luxury design.
The itinerary included visits to three marble quarries: Calacatta Borghini, Fabbricotti and Macchia Vecchia. Their geographic proximity allowed guests to trace the vein up the mountain -- following the same geological thread across quarry faces and observing how a single continuous body of stone expresses itself differently at each location. The shared Carrara basin origin gives these marbles a recognizable family resemblance, yet variations in pressure, mineral flow, and metamorphic conditions along the mountain produce stones of extraordinary individual character.
The trip also allowed the group to tour fabrication shops – watching large rough marble blocks being cut into slabs – and sculpting studios where they witnessed centuries of artisanal tradition come alive in stone.
