Two New Patent-Pending Advanced Surface Finishes

MILAN, ITALY -- Ceramiche Keope expands its research horizon with the launch of ULTRAsilky and ULTRAmatt, two cutting-edge technologies that mark a further step forward in the company’s vision: transforming ceramics into an increasingly advanced, high-performance material, capable of engaging with the languages of contemporary design.

These new finishes -- patent pending in Italy -- share the same technological foundation developed through Keope’s ongoing R&D efforts, yet each offers distinct functional and aesthetic qualities.
A dual approach designed to meet the demands of contemporary projects: ULTRAsilky, velvety and sensorial; ULTRAmatt, technical, textured and anti-glare. With this double innovation, Ceramiche Keope reaffirms its commitment to defining new tactile, aesthetic and performance experiences, further strengthening its role as a benchmark in indoor and outdoor design.

ULTRAsilky – Safe Touch

ULTRAsilky redefines the concept of satin surfaces, introducing a new tactile experience: ultra-smooth, velvety and enveloping. Designed to blend aesthetics and functionality, this technology is suitable even for interior wet installations, while preserving the pleasant smooth feel that distinguishes the most refined finishes.

The effect is achieved through a micro-topography invisible to the naked eye, composed of high-angled micro-reliefs distributed more densely than on traditional satin surfaces. This configuration generates a wet coefficient of friction (DCOFwet > 0.42) that meets the ANSI A326.3 standard for interior wet classification, ensuring safety without compromising elegance.

ULTRAsilky is the ideal solution for spaces that demand a balance of sensory appeal, beauty and technical performance.

ULTRAmatt – Natural Vibe

ULTRAmatt is the result of a research collaboration between Keope and the University of Modena and Reggio Emilia. This synergy has led to a matte, anti-glare surface that is visually deep and remarkably natural.

The technology is based on replacing a traditional matting agent with an extra-fine grained material, allowing for a more uniform and compact distribution that enhances the matte effect through more efficient light diffusion.

The innovation also extends to the tactile experience. ULTRAmatt introduces a uniformly smooth feel -- an uncommon feature among technical surfaces with high anti-slip performance.

Cleaning the surface is easier, as the more even distribution of the microscopic refractory particles reduces roughness, increasing resistance to stains and chemicals.

Designed for residential and commercial spaces, both indoors and outdoors, ULTRAmatt is the ideal choice for those looking for a sophisticated matte aesthetic paired with professional-grade performance and design versatility.

With ULTRAsilky and ULTRAmatt, Ceramiche Keope further expands its material vocabulary, offering designers richer, more flexible and contemporary tools. This dual innovation reaffirms the company’s commitment to developing advanced ceramic solutions that meet the demands of international design, with a focus on quality, functionality and the beauty of the material.
