BENGALURU, INDIA (AP) — A 40-year-old businessman was killed Thursday after being crushed by granite slabs while unloading materials at a warehouse in Karnataka’s Ramanagara district, police said.
The victim, identified as Syed Asif Pasha, was supervising the unloading of granite slabs from a truck at his godown in Kumbalgodu when several heavy slabs fell on him. Workers and bystanders rushed to help, but Pasha died on the spot, officials said.
Authorities have registered a case and launched an investigation into the incident. Preliminary reports suggest that the slabs may not have been properly secured during transport.
Pasha was involved in the stone and tile trade and had been operating the business for several years, according to local sources.
