In the heart of Tennessee, Wonder Porcelain is quietly shaping the future of tile manufacturing in the United States. At the helm is CEO Jacky Huang, who has been with the company since its inception and continues to guide its steady growth. Huang sat down to reflect on the company’s journey, the lessons learned from overseas experience, and the commitment to innovation that sets Wonder Porcelain apart.
Founded as a U.S. subsidiary of China’s Macro Polo Group, Wonder Porcelain began production in 2017. But the groundwork started much earlier.
“The idea for the company began in 2015,” said Huang. “That’s when we officially registered the business in the U.S., and I came on board from day one. Our parent company has been around since 1988 in China, so we brought that legacy here to Tennessee with the goal of building something new, rooted in experience but tailored to this market.”
Though the Marco Polo Group brought decades of manufacturing expertise to the table, establishing a factory in the U.S. came with its own challenges.
“You can’t just copy and paste success from one country to another,” Huang explained. “Different cultures, different regulations, and even customer preferences all mean you have to adapt. We definitely learned a lot from our team in China, but we also had to discover what works uniquely in Tennessee.”
Since then, Wonder Porcelain has grown into a standout domestic manufacturer, known for pushing the boundaries of product design and production capabilities. A major factor in that success is their in-house research and development team.
“One of our key differentiators is that we don’t wait on headquarters for product development,” Huang said. “We have our own R&D team right here in Tennessee. That means we can respond quickly to market trends—whether it’s testing new colors, finishes, or patterns—and deliver samples to customers in a fraction of the time.”
That responsiveness has helped Wonder Porcelain stay ahead of evolving design tastes in the U.S., where the appetite for porcelain tile has grown significantly.
“Years ago, porcelain was intimidating to some consumers. But now, with advancements in printing and glaze technology, we can mimic the warmth of wood, the elegance of marble, or the texture of stone—all without the maintenance headaches,” Huang noted.
And as style preferences shift beyond the classic whites and grays, Wonder Porcelain is leaning into bold expression.
“The market is still largely centered on white and marble looks, but we’re seeing more demand for color,” said Huang. “We launched our Reverence Color Body collection recently with eight colors—four warm, four cool—each with two finishes and multiple sizes. It’s about offering more options and pushing creativity in interior design.”
Despite ongoing challenges like shifting tariffs and trade policies, Huang remains focused on delivering consistent value rather than chasing short-term advantages.
“Of course, tariffs affect everyone differently,” he said. “But at Wonder Porcelain, we’re not changing our strategy based on them. I believe that if we keep providing quality products and service, we’ll succeed—with or without trade protections. That’s our philosophy.”
As Wonder Porcelain celebrates its 10-year milestone since the initial vision was formed, the company continues to balance global experience with local innovation—cementing its place in the evolving American tile market.
