The total area of the facility is close to 60,000 square feet, with high ceilings. The warehouse is divided into three sections, separated by walls and connected through doors and an open yard. There is one storage hall for granite slabs, another for marble, onyx and limestone. The third area is for tiles, and the open area has a staging area and additional storage for granite.
The company also made sure that there is ample space between the aisles for customers to step back and view the entire slab comfortably. Five-ton overhead remote-controlled cranes operate in the slab areas, and they have been engineered for quiet operation.
In addition, the facility features a large office area with meeting rooms and two large conference rooms.
“Going from a 4,000-square-foot warehouse in 2000 to a 60,000-square-foot warehouse in 2010 is a big leap forward,” stated Babu Reddy.
To mark the expansion, Hindustan Granites held a Grand Opening that was attended by 300 fabricators, architects and interior designers, and the food was a fusion of Italian and Indian fare.
“After the Grand Opening, there has been a tremendous response and support from our customers, including the architectural community,” said Reddy and Prakash Doddahosahalli. “This large facility has allowed us to increase our product line. When other distributors are cutting back on products, we have increased the product line. We have not cut back on service.”
