NEW YORK, NY --A memorial urn made was unveiled in December to honor the 23 New York Police Department officers who died on September 11. New York Mayor Rudolph Giuliani and Police Commissioner Bernard Kerik unveiled the urn in the lobby of One Police Plaza. The urn stands on a pedestal of Dakota Mahogany granite inscribed with the names of the officers who lost their lives at the World Trade Center. Fabrication of the pedestal was completed by Dakota Granite Co. of Milbank, SD.
