The 2000 edition of Stone South America featured 253 exhibitors from Brazil and around the world, including an Italian pavillion.

The 11th edition of Stone South America is set to take place at the Transam?ca Expo Center in S?Paulo, Brazil, from March 13 to 16. And while the show has been moved from November to the spring, it will still take place during the evening hours of 2 p.m. to 9 p.m. each day (1 p.m. to 8 p.m. on March 16).

The 2000 edition of the show featured 253 exhibitors and over 10,000 visitors, according to VNU Business Media, which organizes the event. Moreover, a total of 17% of the show?s attendance came from outside of Brazil, representing 29 different nations.

The exhibitors came from Brazilian stoneworking regions such as Bahia, Minas Gerais, Tocantins, Espirito Santo and others. And while Brazilian firms comprised 60% of the exhibiting firms, the remaining 40% came from abroad -- particularly suppliers of items not available in Brazil, such as tumbled marble and fabricating equipment from Europe. In fact, many Italian exhibitors organized as a national pavilion on the show floor.

As an added benefit for the 2002 exhibition, the Transam?ca Expo Center features improved telecommunication infrastructure, parking and environmental controls. The fair also established a Web site at www.stoneexpo.com.br for more information. For travel information to the event, TAM Airlines is offering discounted packages. They can be reached by telephone at 011-55-0800-555-200 or via e-mail at pontocom@tamviagens.com.br.
