Brazilian stone fair returns to Vitoria

By Michael Reis
January 10, 2004
For over a decade, a stoneworking fair has taken place in the stone-rich state of Espirito Santo, Brazil. This fair was traditionally held in Cachoeiro de Itapemirim, Brazil. And while this city is at the very heart of Espirito Santo's stone industry, the area's somewhat limited infrastructure tempered the international flavor of the event. Last year, show organizer Milanez & Milaneze moved the show to Vitoria, the capital of Espirito Santo and one of Brazil's major cities, allowing for more hotel choices and easier transport back and forth. The move was a success, as it drew a healthy crowd of visitors from around the world, including many Americans. This scene will be repeated from February 10 to 13, 2004, as the 17th International Marble and Granite Fair is set to take place in Vitoria.

The 2003 edition of the event featured over 200 exhibitors, including suppliers from the Brazilian state of Espirito Santo as well as throughout Brazil. It is estimated that more than 400 different types of marble and granite will be exhibited, many of which will be seen for the first time. The newest state of the art equipment and machinery technology - as well as installation and maintenance products - will also be on display, including many offerings from Europe. In fact, the Italian Institute for Foreign Trade had a large presence at last year's show, with a pavilion of stone producers, equipment manufacturers and other firms.

“The tremendous potential of the 'Capixaba' - State of Espírito Santo - Brazilian stone production makes the International Marble and Granite Fair in Vitória the main event for Latin American as well as international businesses in this sector,” stated Milanez & Milaneze. “It is also one of the most important showcases of international trends in the ornamental stone industry. Visitors should also not forget the tremendous advantages of the logistical infrastructure available through the Port of Vitória, which facilitates the import of equipment/machinery and the export of stone products. All things considered, this is an opportunity that should not be missed by anyone interested in the ornamental stone trade.”
