Tennessee Marble Co. of Friendsville, TN, announced the acquisition of the Champlain Black Marble quarry located in Isle La Motte, VT. This rich, black marble, which has been known as “Radio Black” and “Champlain Black,” is the only Class A black marble quarried in the U.S., the company reports. It has an impressive history in many projects throughout the country, including, Radio City Music Hall, the National Gallery of Art, the Brooklyn Bridge and the Maine State Capitol.
