Marble Institute Of America Appoints New Membership Director

November 1, 2004
The Marble Institute of America, Inc. (MIA) announced the appointment of Cathy Mayer as its new Membership Director. Mayer, who has more than 12 years of experience in sales and customer service, will coordinate membership acquisition and recruitment campaigns for the international natural stone association and assist in delivering exceptional service to its more than 1,200 members worldwide.

“MIA is very pleased to welcome Cathy to our staff,” stated Garis F. Distelhorst, MIA Executive Vice President. “Her strong background in service and sales -- combined with her interpersonal skills, team spirit and integrity -- gives MIA increased capability and responsiveness as we continue to grow in size and stature and expand our influence upon the design and construction communities.”

“I was delighted to join the MIA team because I have long admired the beauty and craftsmanship of products and buildings from the stone industry,” said Mayer. “I consider it an honor to now assist the companies who have chosen to become members of the Marble Institute.

“I enjoy working closely with people to help them get the optimum savings, service and information that is available to them within our industry,” Mayer continued. “I plan to work diligently to provide MIA members with the most up-to-date information from MIA and help them represent their companies within the stone industry.”

Before joining MIA, Mayer was the Sales Representative/Inside Sales Manager at NACSCORP in Oberlin, OH, an association for the college bookstore industry. She also worked in sales at Westlake, OH-based C&K Manufacturing and Sales, a food processing and distribution company.
