I recently returned from Las Vegas to attend TISE. I must admit, a few months ago when I made the decision to go I was excited but still a little apprehensive. But by the time I was in the airport, I suddenly enjoyed the feeling of being “normal” again. And once I entered the Mandalay Bay, it felt good to be back.
As we head into summer, I have to say that the future is looking brighter. Life is starting to feel more like it did pre-pandemic. I am excited that in a few weeks I will be traveling to Las Vegas for The International Surface Event (TISE).
The Natural Stone Institute, in partnership with Stone World, held one of its regularly scheduled virtual Stone Summits on April 14, 2021. The topic of quartzite proved to be a “hot” issue among fabricators, as it drew record-breaking numbers of attendees.

Having passed the half mark of 2020, I have taken some time for reflection. It certainly has been a game-changer so far. In January, I started the year off like any other.
The Natural Stone Institute now has a new vehicle to honor and recognize industry friends while also giving back to the stone industry. For its 2019 Study Tour, the Natural Stone Institute headed to Knoxville, TN, to visit several local stone companies and equipment manufacturers, as well as time to mingle and enjoy the southern culture
Home to the University of Tennessee and host to the 1982 World’s Fair, Knoxville, TN, was the destination for the 2019 Natural Stone Institute Study Tour, which drew a total of 66 participants. The four-day event provided an arena for attendees to mingle and network through many sessions and activities.
