ISFA Implements Forward-Focused Plan to Strengthen Its Education Infrastructure

ISFA
ISFA
February 17, 2026

PITTSBURGH, PA -- The International Surface Fabricators Association (ISFA) announced the hiring of Aaron Davis as its new Chief of Education, a newly created executive leadership position designed to accelerate the IPAF’s national growth strategy and workforce development initiatives.

On March 2, 2026, Davis will join ISFA’s executive leadership team as part of an aggressive forward-focused plan to strengthen the ISFA’s education infrastructure and advance the development of the 2026: Countertop and Surface Fabrication Licensing Standard. This industry-led licensing model will be piloted in California before launching nationally April 1, 2027.

In his new role, Davis will lead the development of ISFA’s regional training center structure, build out a product-specific national trainer network and spearhead the creation of future apprenticeship programs designed to support the countertop and surface fabrication industry directly in their shops, in their cities and in their states. His leadership will be central to building a skilled, compliant and future-ready countertop and surface fabrication workforce.

Davis brings 26 years of experience in the solid surface industry and is widely recognized as a leading technical expert. Specializing in acrylic and polyester product suites, he has played a key role in delivering advanced technical solutions, supporting research and development initiatives, and ensuring fabrication and installation processes meet the highest industry standards.

Most recently, Davis served as technical resource specialist for Avonite Solid Surface at Trinseo, where he evaluated and qualified products, oversaw product status and ensured full compliance with manufacturer warranty requirements. He later expanded his impact as a distribution account manager, developing market strategies, strengthening distributor relationships and driving measurable sales growth.

Davis’s influence extends globally through his work as an International Solid Surface Instructor. He has delivered hundreds of certified fabrication training courses worldwide and is known for translating complex technical concepts into practical hands-on instruction. His ongoing training work with ISFA fabricator members reflects his long-standing commitment to raising industry standards and investing in the next generation of craftspeople.

ISFA President Travis McDermott from McDermott Top Shop expressed strong support for the appointment. “Aaron has been an integral part of education and training at ISFA for as long as we have been around,” he said. “He and his previous company, Trinseo, have committed significant time to supporting this industry. For Aaron to join us at this time demonstrates his belief in the direction we are going. It also reinforces what ISFA stands for, all products are created equal. We focus on the countertop and surface fabrication community, not on any single product category.”

The creation of the chief of education role reflects ISFA’s commitment to building a national education and compliance framework that supports fabricators of all countertop and surface materials. ISFA’s licensing standard initiative is product-neutral and focused on protecting workers, supporting responsible countertop and surface fabrication business owners and contractors, and creating clear enforceable pathways for safe countertop and surface fabrication operations.

In addition to Davis’s appointment, ISFA is actively recruiting a national safety, health and regulatory compliance director and a Region 9 (California) executive director. These positions are critical to ensuring ISFA meets the key performance indicators established under its Fabricator Safety Initiative 4 and successfully implements the California pilot program.

With this expanded leadership team, ISFA continues to position itself as the unified voice for countertop and surface fabrication shops nationwide; focused on workforce development, safety, standards and long-term industry sustainability.
