Known for breathing new life into historic homes across Kansas City, Bargain Mansions star Tamara Day made her debut appearance at Coverings 2025, North America’s largest tile and stone trade show. The HGTV and Magnolia Network personality wasn’t just there to browse—she was exploring new possibilities for partnership and soaking in the artistry of tile design.
“This is my first time at Coverings, and it's been really impressive,” said Day. “I use tile like it’s wallpaper—I go floor to ceiling, corner to corner, even over doorways. With four kids, I want my spaces to be beautiful and bulletproof.”
Day is best known for transforming large, often-neglected historic properties into vibrant family homes alongside her father on the hit HGTV show Bargain Mansions. But her hands-on approach is no act for the camera—she’s laying tile, sanding walls, and hauling lumber herself. Her journey into home renovation began in childhood on a Kansas farm and grew from necessity during the 2008 housing crash, when she and her husband were left holding over a dozen underwater rental properties.
“I’m a farm girl. We’re DIY by nature. Sometimes that means things get a little MacGyvered, but we always figure it out,” said Day.
The idea for a television career, like much of Day’s path, came unexpectedly. A chance referral from her brother led to a casting agent meeting and a pilot. Ten years later, she's a household name among home renovation enthusiasts, with six seasons under her belt and a loyal fan base.
As for what excites her most about renovation, Day lights up when talking about spatial problem-solving. “Walking into a house, I immediately sense what’s wrong with the flow,” said Day. “I can usually reimagine the layout in my head on the first walkthrough. It’s like a puzzle, and I love a puzzle.”
At Coverings, her passion for pattern and durability found a natural fit. While she’s already well-versed in furniture and other product design categories, Day shared that she’s actively seeking a tile partner for future collaborations.
“I love color. I love texture. And every house we work on has a completely unique design—we never repeat the same look twice,” said Day. “Tile gives you that aesthetic and protection that nothing else can.”
For companies or fans eager to connect, Day encourages reaching out via Instagram (@tamaraday) or through her website at tamaraday.com.
With her blend of grit, design flair, and Midwestern charm, Tamara Day continues to build more than homes—she’s building a brand rooted in authenticity, resilience, and a deep love for beautiful, functional spaces.
