NEW YORK, NY – On Wednesday, October 10, 2018, Walker Zanger will host a Natural Stone Institute New York Metro Chapter event at its showroom located at 37 E. 20th Street in New York City. The event, which will be held from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m., is sponsored by Schechner Lifson Corp.

From 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. the session “Natural Stone 101,” worth 1 CEU credit, will be held. This course will allow participants to gain a full understanding of natural stone as a building material. They will learn more about the various natural stones (limestone, travertine, onyx, marble, serpentine, sandstone, slate, quartzite and granite), and obtain information about common quarrying techniques, fabrication and finishing methods. Additionally, attendees will enhance their ability to select the right stone, fabrication technique and finish for their projects.

At 6 p.m. “The Art of Specifying Natural Stone,” also worth 1 CEU credit, will be offered. This session will give an overview of how to specify natural stone. There are many factors to consider to ensure you are choosing the proper material for your project. What do you need to know about its species, color variations and finish possibilities? Is the quarry able to produce the sizes and quantities you need? And finally, what factors affect the price of the stone you specify? Get the resources you need to help ensure the stone you choose meets the standards and design intent set for your application.

For chapter participants, the fee is $25, and it is $50 for non-chapter attendees. Admission is complimentary for architects and designers.
