Custom® Building Products, a leading manufacturer of tile and stone installation systems, has been honored by Habitat for Humanity of Orange County, CA, for its $160,000 donation to Habitat for Humanity's Operation Home Delivery. The program is rebuilding homes in the Gulf Coast region that were destroyed by Hurricanes Katrina, Wilma and Rita in 2005. John McMullen, executive vice president of Custom Building Products, accepted the award on behalf of the company and its employees who helped raise the funds.

Custom Building Products began with a $100,000 donation to Operation Home Delivery, and also pledged to match, dollar for dollar, the funds of all employees who would donate one day of vacation pay to the cause. Voluntary employee contributions totaled $30,000, which Custom matched to bring the company's final donation total to $160,000. This amount is funding the construction of two homes for families through the Operation Home Delivery program.

“Custom Building Products was one of the earliest corporate contributors to our local Operation Home Delivery program,” said Sharon Ellis, executive director for Habitat for Humanity of Orange County. “Not only is their generosity making a very real difference for two families suffering unimaginable loss, but their actions have served as a catalyst in gaining support from builders and our local business community. We commend Custom's generosity and community leadership.”

“It is a privilege to accept this honor on behalf of the entire Custom family. I am very proud of how quickly, selflessly and willingly our team contributed to this great need,” said McMullen. “Habitat for Humanity is a champion for building communities, and never before have their services been needed on such a large scale as in the wake of Hurricane Katrina, Hurricane Wilma and Hurricane Rita. The devastation was massive, and we are gratified to help support their mission.”

Custom Building Products is a regular supporter of both Habitat for Humanity and its affiliate, Tile Partners for Humanity. Most recently, Custom donated time, tools, materials and expertise to Habitat for Humanity of Orange County in the construction of five new homes for partner families. That contribution incorporated 3,000 square feet of tile flooring installation materials as an upgrade from Habitat's standard vinyl floor coverings.
