Patrick McAfee, a stonemason, conservation consultant and author of Irish Stone Walls, has introduced a new book, Stone Buildings, which addresses the traditional techniques used when stone buildings were originally constructed; where the stone was sourced; and the proper methods of repair and maintenance. McAfee runs workshops on stone and lime, and lectures throughout Ireland and the U.S. He studied traditional stoneworking at the European School of Conservation at San Servolo in Venice, Italy. The book, which is 224 pages long with 50 black and white photos and 169 line drawings, is published by O'Brien Press in Dublin, Ireland.
