RALEIGH, NC -- Robert Nevin “Bob” Stinson, 66, of Lake Gaston, VA, died August 30, 2004, at Duke University Medical Center in Durham, NC. A funeral mass was celebrated at St. James Catholic Church in Henderson, NC.

Born in Joplin, MO, Bob enjoyed sports from early childhood and played basketball, baseball and football in high school. He attended the University of Tulsa and Central State University, receiving a degree in sociology and psychology. He was offered a Chicago White Sox contract but declined in favor of a business career.

Since 2001, Bob served as Director of Architectural Services for the David Allen Co., a marble, granite, terrazzo and tile contractor headquartered in Raleigh, NC, and with branch offices in Columbia, SC, and Washington, DC. Prior to that position, he was employed by Mapei Corp. for nine years, where he was 1994 Salesman of the Year and runner up in 1995.

He is survived by his wife, Barbara Ann Howell “Bobbi” Stinson, and a grandson, Tanyon Shope, age six, of the home; two sons; six daughters; and 12 grandchildren.
