Is natural stone making a comeback? Did it ever go away? One of our main stories this issue is stone and tile design trends. We spoke with architects and designers from around the country about what they see are the tile and stone trends in the market right now, and moving forward.
We at Contemporary Stone & Tile Design are excited for the New Year once again. Not only does it give the magazine an opportunity to plan out what it will be like for the next 12 months, but also reflect on the previous year.
For this issue of Contemporary Stone & Tile Design, we have a focus on residential design, and achieving LEED status using natural stone. We had the chance to talk to Stephanie Vierra, who is the president of Vierra Design & Education Services, LLC.
Two of the bigger stone and tile shows are now concluded, The International Surfaces Show and Coverings, which allows us here at Contemporary Stone & Tile Design to see some of the possible future trends in the industry.
We close this year with an issue focusing on decorative glass tile. We have projects that showcase the use of decorative glass tile to create artwork in Little Havana, helping to design a state-of-the-art locker room for a NCAA College Basketball team, and finally, using decorative glass tile to update a kitchen.
In this issue of Contemporary Stone & Tile Design, we have a focus on large-format tile and building stone. The issue starts off with two Class A office buildings, a three-story structure and an existing four-story building that was reskinned using large-format tile.
The hospitality industry is continuing to grow around the world. According to STR and Tourism Economics, the hotel industry alone is expected to have about a two percent growth for 2017.
