“Texas Quarries was founded 90 years ago, in 1929, to take advantage of an abundant resource native to Texas: warm-hued limestone in two varieties, Cordova Cream and Cordova Shell,” said Britt Stokes, director of marketing for Acme Brick Company.

Acme Brick Company was founded in 1891 to supply brick and other high-quality building products to architects and builders. “Texas Quarries was founded 90 years ago, in 1929, to take advantage of an abundant resource native to Texas: warm-hued limestone in two varieties, Cordova Cream and Cordova Shell,” said Britt Stokes, director of marketing for Acme Brick Company. “The products of Texas Quarries have been used in buildings across the country and around the world. For most of its history, Texas Quarries was a vertically integrated operation – providing not only quarried stone but also finished products ready for installation.”

In 2018, after careful analysis, Texas Quarries returned to its roots, to become a pure provider of limestone blocks to third-party fabricators. “Our primary mission now is to supply blocks of dimensional Cordova Cream and Cordova Shell limestone,” said Stokes. “Our customers are stone fabricators that can produce the finished pieces for architects and builders to use on their jobs.”

Acme Brick Company currently sources Cordova Cream and Cordova Shell, both of which are “top of the line” in Texas limestone. The Texas Quarries employ five full-time associates at the Quarry in Liberty Hill, TX, and the company owns 30 plus acres. “After decades of operation, our Liberty Hill Quarry is now producing the highest quality limestone in Texas Quarries history,” said Stokes. “We expect to continue quarrying premium Texas limestone at this site for decades to come.”
