A solid showing at TISE 2018
Capitalizing on the upward swing of the economy, The International Surface Event (TISE) can be declared a success with busy activity on the show floor
An energetic crowd eagerly awaiting the doors of The International Surface Event (TISE) 2018 to open is a strong indicator of the show’s success. Thousands of visitors from around the world turned out for the international flooring exhibition – comprised of StonExpo, TilExpo and Surfaces – which was held from Tuesday, January 30 to Thursday, February 1. Additionally, the Ignite education series commenced on Monday, January 29.
From the start of the three-day show, the aisles throughout the exhibition hall were bustling. It was evident there were quality attendees looking to research and invest in new products.
Throughout the StonExpo area, machine demonstrations attracted groups of onlookers, and attractions such as The Cage and Marmomac pavilion offered on-the-floor education. Overall, the vibe during TISE 2018 was lively and both exhibitors and attendees seemed pleased with the results. The following are some show highlights.
Natural Stone Institute celebrates stone
The Natural Stone Institute had a more than strong presence at StonExpo/Marmomac Americas — participating in the educational program, presenting its annual Pinnacle Awards and holding a reception for its members, which drew a crowd of over 500 people.
Stone Fabricator’s Alliance educates in The Cage
During the three days of TISE, the Stone Fabricator’s Alliance (SFA) held demonstrations a few times a day to address specific issues and techniques that arise in the stone fabrication process. Among the topics covered were miter seams and rodding, overcoming challenges associated with Ultra Compact Surfaces, quartz surface repair and quartz renew and hand fabrication tools and techniques.
The Marmomac International Pavilion
The Marmomac International Pavilion hosted leading stone and machinery suppliers from India, Italy, Portugal, San Marino, Canada and Turkey during TISE 2018. The pavilion was also a stage for several educational sessions. Additionally, Marmomac sponsored its annual architect day for its “Designing with Natural Stone” program. The day finished with a dinner at RM Seafood in the Mandalay Bay.
