Neolith’s Nero Marquina has won a 2017 Red Dot Product Design award in the Materials and Surfaces category. Inspired by marble from Spain, the monochromatic décor stood out to the judges because of the outstanding technical skills applied to achieve a design that replicates the natural stone.
To achieve bright white veining on a pure black backdrop TheSize, designer and manufacturer of Nero Marquina, developed an exclusive technique to achieve the stark contrast and distinct fine lines. Nero Marquina is available in Polished and Silk finishes and in 6mm and 12mm thicknesses, and can also be book-matched to create mirror-like designs.
“We tirelessly invest in our research and development, trying to stay ahead of our industry by providing the latest design technologies and creating décors to rival the real deal,” said Mar Esteve, marketing director at TheSize. “We have come a long way since winning the award in 2015, and will continue to push the boundaries of design.”
The winning entries will receive their certificates during the Red Dot Gala, July 3 at the Aalto-Theater in Essen, Germany. The Red Dot Design Museum Essen will then present all award-winning products in its four-week winners’ exhibition.
