Nick A. Cordone, president of Marble & Granite Fabricators, Inc. of Beltsville, MD, has been in the stone business most of his life, following in his family's footsteps. He has owned his own business for the past 20 years. "During that period of time I have had the experience with more than half a dozen gantry saws from manufactures from all over the world, but without a doubt my Matrix GSC-2001 is the best I have ever owned," said Cordone.
Cordone continued, "We run an extremely busy operation whose business mix is approximately 70% commercial and 30% residential. Our schedules are demanding, but when we promise delivery we are there - no exceptions. My wife Elda who directs the sales force is a tough taskmaster, she has to be with a schedule and territory that covers four states. It is all a part of the commitment to excellence that has been instrumental in our growth and success."
Working from a 22,000-square-foot facility, Marble & Granite Fabricators Inc. operates with 17 full-time employees that run two shifts daily. The primary thrust of the commercial operation is marble and granite, interior and exterior cladding, floors, walls and a variety of custom work of various sizes, according to Cordone.
The company's residential work encompasses new home and remodel work with contractors and interior designers for marble and granite countertops, floors for kitchen, bath and custom work such as fireplaces and specialized stonework throughout the home.
"We are heavily dependant on our Matrix GSC-2001 gantry saw, which has become the workhorse of our operation," said Cordone
