Newsline: WEST COAST FABRICATOR UPGRADES MACHINERY

September 30, 2002
R.C. Tile & Marble Creations of Salinas, CA, has recently upgraded its fabricating facility with the addition of the Daytona XL edge profiling system from Matrix Stone Products.

"Before Matrix, we did everything by hand," explained Ramon Castillo owner of R.C. Tile & Marble Creations. "What a blessing for us the new Daytona XL has been. We have increased our production ten-fold. We cover a huge market area - from Salinas west to the Monterey Peninsula and north to San Jose; from south to Paso Robles and east to beyond Hollister and Los Banos."

Castillo said that the machinery is used to fabricate for a broad range of clientele. "Almost all of our business has come to us by word of mouth, and the mix is about 80% residential and 20% commercial," he said. "We deal with designers and decorators and mainly homeowners. We are gratified that our business has grown by leaps and bounds since I started the company in 1989. We employ six full-time people and almost double that amount at peak times during the year. The considerable time we have saved since purchasing our new Daytona has allowed us to continue to service our accounts with the same precision, creativity and care that has been so responsible for our growth."

The Daytona allows the company to pre-program the work and create custom programs. "The machine is fast and efficient, and the best thing is that we can ogee the edge to final polish," Castillo said. "We do the usual - specialty countertops, built-in Jacuzzis or Roman tubs - along with fireplaces, complete baths, walls, floors and all types of specialty work. We also own a Matrix GSC-2001 gantry saw, which is the reason we bought our new Daytona."

R.C. Tile & Marble Creations showroom and manufacturing operation is located at 20950 Spence Road, Salinas CA 93908; Phone: 831-753-0700; Fax: 831-753-0900; E-mail: rctile1999@aol.com; Internet: www.rctmc.com.
