Employees promoted

TATE, GA --Georgia Marble Co., a natural stone quarrier and producer, has recently made a number of top-level appointments within the company.

Patrick Perus has been hired as national sales and marketing director, prior to joining the company this past summer. He worked for the parent company IMERYS, in its London offices, where he was in charge of sales and marketing of the ceramic division. Originally from France, Perus, who is fluent in five languages, is a graduate of the GSB of the University of Chicago. He will be overseeing all aspects of the company¿s sales and marketing efforts.

David King, who has been involved in dimensional stone sales with Georgia Marble for more than a decade, has been promoted to business leader, structural division. He now will oversee all sales functions relative to architectural and design, cut-to-size tile, and special promotions to name a few. King is a graduate of the University of South Carolina and has been working within the stone sector since 1984.

Jay Kown, a Georgia Marble staff member since 1992, has been promoted to business leader, memorial division. This position entails being in charge of all aspects of memorial and monumental sales. He has worked at a number of positions within the company, most recently as West Coast operations manager. Kown is a graduate of the University of W. Georgia.

Surfaces 2013 preview

Surfaces 2013 -- to be held in conjunction with StonExpo/Marmomacc Americas -- is slated for January 29 to 31 at the Mandalay Bay Convention Center in Las Vegas, NV. The show, which also includes an extensive educational program that will be held from January 28 to 31, provides a place for thousands of floor covering retailers, distributors, installers, architects, designers and builders from around the world to gather and view the latest products, get vital education, network with other floor covering professionals and conduct business.

More than 600 of the largest manufacturers and suppliers representing products in every major category, including carpet, tile, hardwood, rugs, laminate, resilient and stone, are expected to exhibit at the trade show. Hanley Wood, owner and operator of the exhibition, reports that they have many new exhibiting companies and returning ones who have expanded their booth size. Additionally, Surfaces 2013 will host more than 40 workshops, seminars and mini sessions led by industry experts in the fields of business, sales, marketing, installation and design. Attendees can earn AIA, NKBA, AIBD, IICRC and AIA/CES industry designation. Here is just a small sampling of some of the displays that will be present at Surfaces 2013.
