Position change

BETHANY, CT - Arthur Mintie, previous Technical Services Supervisor of Laticrete International, Inc., has been promoted to the position of Technical Services Manager.

As Technical Services Manager, Mintie is responsible for supervising and scheduling the daily operations of the Laticrete Technical Services Department as well as overseeing support programs such as the Laticrete Profit Through Knowledge training programs, which are run nationwide and around the world. In addition, he provides technical service to architects, contractors and distributors in advising the proper selection of materials and installation procedures for specific applications.

Mintie's responsibilities now also include the review and preparation of technical documents, architectural details and specifications in recommending the proper materials selection for applications. His writing skills are also utilized in his new position, as he composes technical service articles, tips in monthly newsletters and industry articles.

“Art Mintie is the heart and soul of our Technical Services Department,” said Laticrete SVP Sales and Marketing, Ed Metcalf. “His leadership capabilities, technical knowledge, expertise in real-world applications and exceptional people skills match perfectly to the requirements of this demanding position.”

“My goal is to ensure that the Laticrete Technical Services Department will provide timely and accurate technical information to our customers and to the field in general,” stated Mintie. “I will always strive to keep our department the best in the industry.”

Surfaces 2013 preview

Surfaces 2013 -- to be held in conjunction with StonExpo/Marmomacc Americas -- is slated for January 29 to 31 at the Mandalay Bay Convention Center in Las Vegas, NV. The show, which also includes an extensive educational program that will be held from January 28 to 31, provides a place for thousands of floor covering retailers, distributors, installers, architects, designers and builders from around the world to gather and view the latest products, get vital education, network with other floor covering professionals and conduct business.

More than 600 of the largest manufacturers and suppliers representing products in every major category, including carpet, tile, hardwood, rugs, laminate, resilient and stone, are expected to exhibit at the trade show. Hanley Wood, owner and operator of the exhibition, reports that they have many new exhibiting companies and returning ones who have expanded their booth size. Additionally, Surfaces 2013 will host more than 40 workshops, seminars and mini sessions led by industry experts in the fields of business, sales, marketing, installation and design. Attendees can earn AIA, NKBA, AIBD, IICRC and AIA/CES industry designation. Here is just a small sampling of some of the displays that will be present at Surfaces 2013.
