Office development completed

10 Crown Place, London

LONDON, ENGLAND -- Natural stone cladding is just one of Burlington's architectural products specified for use for 10 Crown Place -- a prestigious office development by Earl Estates Ltd. -- situated within reach of the recently pedestrianized zone adjoining Broadgate in the city of London.

Designed by architects MacCormac Jamieson Pritchard, the eight-story scheme provides 50,000 square feet of office accommodation. It also features an abundance of Burlington's Silver Grey natural stone in its interior, used as flooring in the reception area.

As a modern interpretation of the warehouse buildings typically found in the local area of Shoreditch, the scheme's exterior facade has Burlington's Bursting Stone flame-textured cladding combined with glass and stainless steel to create a dramatic effect. Echoing the strong vertical forms of the surrounding 19th century warehouses, wide bands of the Burlington material -- punctuated by vertical glass lanterns -- double as rain screens to the building's stair towers.

Heightening the visual impact of the natural stone exterior, the same Bursting Stone material was also incorporated within the pedestrianized street's feature paving design, which was created by artist Dan Chadwick. It features white terrazzo stars inset into a central band of natural stone to represent the night sky.

Aimed at attracting major national or international tenants, the Crown Place development was completed for London-based Earl Estates Limited in 18 months, by main contractors Willmott Dixon.
