New Equipment: Racetrackers Excel Solutions (RES)

Racetrackers Excel Solutions (RES) has introduced The Counter Top Estimator[r]. This Microsoft Excel-based program enables stone fabricators to quickly prepare accurate and professional quotations for granite, marble, limestone, engineered stone and solid surface countertops. The principle users of the application are fabrication shops, home centers and kitchen/bath dealers. The program is currently used in fabrication shops throughout the U.S., and has been endorsed by Fred Hueston of The National Training Center for Stone and Masonry Trades in Asheville, NC.

Del Backs, president of RES, was previously employed as Vice President of Operations at a large countertop fabricating facility, where he developed the program, which provides a low cost, streamlined sales and estimating application and works at the retail level as well as fabrication.

To use The Counter Top Estimator[r], simply input the overall dimensions of each piece of the project, as well as options, edges, sinks and materials. The program then does all calculations and displays the results onto two distinct forms: an internal copy (which includes markups) and a customer quote sheet (with full details of the particular job). The output is a very professional presentation, and can be e-mailed printed or stored as an electronic file, reports RES.

“The countertop estimating program has been very helpful to our business,” said Steve Foley of Quad City Brick & Stone. “I can quickly figure estimates by simply plugging in the details for a job, and the customer printouts look professional. We have made some easy revisions to the program to make it more specific to our needs. I would recommend this estimating software to other fabricators.”

Since this template created and operates in Microsoft Excel, no new “system” will need to be installed. The estimator easily does all updates to the shop's materials on site. Color changes, discontinued and new additions, sinks, options, pricing, markups, etc., are easily done with this very flexible tool.
