A spa-like feel was achieved in the remodel of a Philadelphia townhome’s master bath with Lithoverde, a natural stone product comprised of 98% post-industrial material
The homeowners of a 3,000-square-foot townhome in the Society Hill neighborhood of Philadelphia, PA, seized the opportunity to turn a needed repair into creating their dream master bath. The remodel was part of a complete third-floor renovation, which was initiated by leakage from the shower to the ceiling below. In addition to transforming the master bath into a luxurious space with plenty of natural stone, the renovation included updating the master bedroom, a second bathroom and two additional bedrooms.
“The client loved their current home, which they have lived in for many years and intend to stay for many more, so they decided that the leak in the existing master bathroom shower would be the excuse for envisioning for themselves the master bath that they never had,” explained architect Kevin Yoder, AIA, LEED AP of k YODER design, llc in Philadelphia. The architect explained that the former configuration of the master bath was long and very narrow — only 3 x 10 feet wide with a small shower at the far end. The remodel not only included expanding the size of the space, but also adding luxury amenities such as a bidet and “his and hers” towel warmers.
