Grenite^®is the next generation of "green" engineered stone -- featuring an innovative material that is eco-friendly, durable and cost efficient, reports Saint-Gobain, the product's manufacturer. The product is made with up to 85% recycled, post-consumer materials -- making it able to contribute to LEED certification.

Grenite is ideal for countertops and other horizontal surfaces in commercial, institutional and residential settings. It provides superior resistance to scratching, staining and scorching, and has a non-porous surface where sealing is not required, according to Saint-Gobain. Grenite is also flame retardant, impervious to fungi and bacteria and has high-wear resistance. The product is offered in standard slabs of 5 x 10 feet with a thickness of ⁵/₈ inches.
